Steenfabriek De Rijswaard BV Quality Manual

The products manufactured by De Rijswaard brick factory all comply with the requirements laid down in NEN-EN 771-1/A1:
Building brick, and additions as described in the NBRL 1007: Building brick

The grouping and corresponding statements are as follows:

• Red  
• Manganese  
• Bronze/ grey  
• Yellow/ natural  
• Orange  
• Multistone

The TCKI takes random samples of the most recently manufactured products for testing four times a year.

Each year, a selection of one particular product per group is subjected to complete assessment. TCKI examines the following quality characteristics of these products (in the interests of performing a complete assessment):

• dimensions (length, breadth, height)
• gross and net density
• water absorption
• initial water absorption
• compressive strength
• freeze-thaw resistance
• chemical properties
• water-soluble sulphate
• active soluble salts.

A random selection of the remaining product types is subjected to checks on the following criteria once a year:

• dimensions (length, breadth, height)
• gross and net density
• water absorption
• initial water absorption

The quality assurance officer files the results of these assessments in the ‘independent inspection reports’ log. The certifying body performs an audit twice a year. All relevant data is made available on these occasions.
